Emotional powerpop, deeply connected with both Gothenburg and a past life in the US. ior is in many ways based on singer David Fridlund's ruins of a broken life on the other side of the Atlantic, as well as the break-up of his old band David & the Citizens. In a creative rush spurred by the emotional and physical journey back to Sweden, he wrote a number of songs, now in Swedish, which eventually turned into ior's self-titled debut album, released in 2024. If you haven't been to Gothenburg you might not know of the places David sings about, but the music is universal and easy to feel.
