Jenny Apelmo Mattsson left Gothenburg in 2010 to work as a freelance bassist in Germany. A decade later, she launched her solo project, Jenobi, creating a personal space for uncompromised music. Her second album, "Irregularity", released in May 2024, features 11 tracks written, recorded, and produced solely by her after six months in the studio. The album introduces a unique sound, blending bittersweet melancholy with bold beats and delicate vocals. Influences of Björk and The Knife are mixed with confident lyrics reminiscent of Rosalia and Noga Erez. Irregularity critiques patriarchal structures and gender roles in the music industry, reflecting Jenny’s experiences as a female artist in a male-dominated field. It combines newfound confidence with sharp, ironic humor, challenging the status quo with a touch of wit.
