SMAG PÅ DIG SELV

DENMARK

TBA | Friday, Nov 29

A drummer and two saxophonists. That’s the simple recipe for one of the wildest live bands in the Nordic region. It tastes of punk, jazz, and also a bit of pop, hip-hop, afro-beat, and maybe some '90s dance. The Christianshavn trio Smag På Dig Selv embodies instrumental euphoria—dangerous, forward-driving, seductive, and free. With just a EP to their name, SPDS has played countless concerts across the country and in Russia over the past 5 years, establishing themselves as a rowdy live phenomenon in many underground environments. Besides their relentless techno-inspired energy, they have made a mark with their use of everything from Nordic throat singing, poetry readings, and industrial props on stage. Reviewers at this year’s Roskilde Festival had never heard anything like it, and Politiken’s reviewer was left in shock after the trio’s performance at Huset during Copenhagen Jazz Festival. When was the last time you headbanged at a jazz concert?
